DUH217 This is a natural habitat for our wildlife. We will be destroying their homes and food chains! Our bee population will be destroyed! Just when we are being encouraged to Create spaces for wildlife in our gardens! I’m disgusted by this plan when there is so much industrial land to build on! Where will it stop, when we gave no more green areas to appreciate! This is a place of enjoyment for the community and we should be protecting our green belt!!

In reference to: DUH206, DUH207, DUH209 I object to this development:

- Housing will increase traffic on the road adjacent to the local park. Dangerous for children, and elderly residents crossing this road. Increased congestion and air pollution.
- Lack of local amenities to support additional residents
- Loss of natural environment, and habitats. Vital green belt area with bird species such as [Redacted- Sensitive information].
- Key local green space, important for local residents health and well-being. Pathway through land provides access to walking routes and green space frequently used by local residents. Essential for physical and mental well-being.

DUH217 - I am concerned to hear of a proposed development of the green belt for housing between Twickenham Court and Hyperion Road in Wollaston. This has minimal single track access in three directions, and surrounded by housing will make expansion impossible. The local primary school is already oversubscribed and the main medical practice can not cope with current patients.
Brown field sites e.g Lowndes Road, Wollaston should be developed first before developing green field . This site with the South Staffs proposed development of Prestwood Drive and Ridge Woods will significantly affect wildlife, their habitats and natural corridors.

DUH217. Objection on the grounds that this is a wildlife haven for insects, birds, foxes. The field is currently used for horses (one is almost blind and cannot be removed without the other horse). It is not a barren field but its a wild flower meadow which is important for insects. Local children are taken them by their parents to see the horses and onto the fields beyond, not just for exercise but to educate them regarding the environment and wildlife. Its very important to protect this land.

You have identified use of green belt/fields (necessary for food production for growing population, as well as benefit against climate change). You should be considering other brownfield sites, which haven’t been picked up. Former Daniels Land and adjacent plateau at Level Street. Boarded up former Centre in Kingswinford High street. Partially used former Lawnswood School site in Wordsley. All better than more green sites.

I have a problem with the plans for DUH217 and the area I can see from the canal if I walk towards Prestwood drive and look up to the right. There are fields and a wooded area up from the fishing lake. There are a number of grounds that I object to both areas being developed:
1) further destruction of the habitat of wildlife.
2) Destruction of more trees when it is patently obvious that climate change is out of control already.
3) my own mental health and enjoyment of the area.

DUH217 is a significant area of meadow along with a highly used public footpath. The whole area contains significant flora and fauna and is such a valuable green lung and access for so many people. There is no viable access to develop this land and could only be achieved by removal of even more areas of vegetation and demolition of existing houses. We should be protecting these areas of green belt for the well-being of all of us especially our children and grandchildren.

I strongly object to the allocation of the above site for development on the following bases:

Public open space: The site is located within Community Forum 7, where there is a lack of open space. It is used by local residents for informal recreation and has a high value to the local community. I believe the site should be re-opened to the public to provide a much-needed green space in this area. The site could additionally be enhanced for nature, for example by developing it as a wildflower meadow'

I object to the allocation of sites DUH206, DUH207 and DUH 209 for housing. These are are not appropriate sites to release from the green belt as any development of land in this location will lead to further pressure from development right up to the Borough boundary with Bromsgrove district as is clear from the call for sites. Also Worcester Lane is not capable of taking further traffic flows at peak times and will lead to unacceptable highway congestion in Redlake Road and other surrounding road.

I do not consider site DUH217! is suitable for development. The site contains a public footpath with views across the area. I regularly walk across here and development would spoil this amenity.
I am also concerned about the infrastructure of the area and the dangers to children at St James School.
The Kingsway is largely single file due to the volume of parked vehicles many of which use the pavement to park. The road is regularly grid locked by the school. Any development of the site would compound these problems and increase the risk of accidents to children in particular.

[non site specific kingswinford/wall heath]

Your policy claims to support the health and wellbeing of the population of Dudley through air quality and the wider environment, but in the same plan, aim to remove all of the environmental benefits from a small section of the community around wall heath and kingswinford. The removal of green belt land from this small section of the community is complete inequality. Saltwells, Cotwall End, Priory Park, Hayley Green, Stourbridge and Halesowen have quite correctly had their green spaces protected. Wall Heath has very few services and limited quality green space, (two very small play areas, in Albion Street Park, with no designated walking routes in the park, so the natural environment is all that we have for our mental, social and physical health, particularly for those who cannot afford gyms or leisure facilities (of which there are also no council facilities in the area). Being on the edge of the borough has always resulted in fewer facilities, but now your housing strategy aims to remove the only green belt space we have and completely decimate the natural environment.

Do not use a lazy method of using green belt instead of brownfield sites - which may have more challenges due to contamination, and make less profit for developers, the infrastructure is poor, the road systems will not support it, and you are contradicting your claim to be supporting clean air and the environment.

1. Site is a county lines barrier. The path to it is used as an escape route by criminal gangs exiting Hyperion Road. Expanding access will result in increased local crime.

2. Families visit the site to see the horses and abundant bird life. It's an oasis of calm and has been especially vital for people's mental health during lockdowns.

3. Removing this green belt area removes the only buffer between 2 large housing estates (and access to the canal?).

4. Development will lead to increased traffic and increased pressure on already over subscribed local services.

To whom it may concern

I wish to register my objections regarding the proposed building of houses on both North and South green areas of Severn Drive, Brierley Hill. (DUH222).

The main reasons for my objections are as follows:

These green areas, which used to consist of one large green, are, or at least were when I moved into Severn Drive in the late 1980's, a designated play area for children on the estate and as such are widely used by local children as a safe recreation space where parents have peace of mind that they know where their children are and that they are not in danger from traffic. As a designated play area this should exempt this land from any form or building project. If these greens, along with the other proposed housing sites, are swallowed up for housing then where are these children supposed to go and play safely and get the fresh air and exercise that Government and NHS executives alike keep telling us children really need.

During the current Covid-19 pandemic, especially during the full lockdown periods where exercise was permitted for one hour daily, this green space became an essential area where local residents could walk to get what little exercise they were permitted outside of the confines of our own homes. This space is very important to help everyone with not only fitness but more importantly mental health and wellbeing.

As well as the above 2 points this green is also used by many dog walkers, again as a safe local area where dogs can be allowed to exercise safely, the Council having provided dog litter bins as well as general litter bins for that very purpose.

This area is also important for our local wildlife. Wildlife needs green space as much as their human counterparts. We have foxes within the local area, birds of prey use these green spaces as part of their hunting grounds, we have at least one breeding pair of buzzards locally that are seen flying above the estate, there are also bats seen regularly and nightly an owl can be heard from the area of Severn Drive north.

The local infrastructure is also totally insufficient for any increase in both population and traffic. There have been so many houses built in the local area in the last couple of years that there are no longer enough school places, Doctors Surgeries, Dentists etc to cope with the existing population without trying to increase it further.

The estate roads are definitely not built with construction traffic in mind, Corbyns Hall Lane is far too narrow, Corbyns Hall Road always has multiple vehicles parked both sides day and night on the top section passed Corbyns Hall Lane, and the corner of Comber Drive has a sharp bend and narrow road, which is dangerous enough to cars.

The new road junction on the High Street is already proving to be not fit for purpose. The traffic queues it was supposed to improve are just as bad if not worse than they were before the project took place, and will only get increasingly worse with the new commercial buildings currently under construction, the only improvement thus far is traffic alighting from Tansey Green Road, however, the traffic that used to be able to alight from Corbyns Hall Lane and turn right now find it is an impossibility at most times of the day due to being so close to the traffic lights, this causes people to have to exit the estate from the top of Corbyns Hall Road, however, this is a totally blind junction to try and turn left or right at and with the speed the traffic travels along Commonside a collision is highly likely. With new housing in the area this is only going to exacerbate the situation making the area even more dangerous. Corbyns Hall Lane has also become a negotiating hazard due to cars parking on the road to visit the Sainsbury Local, and you want to introduce more traffic in these areas!!

There are multiple local sites that have become complete eyesores over the years which would be far better demolished, why can't this be done and then these areas be rejuvenated for housing. There are also other brown sites which should be utilised, instead of taking away what little green space we have left to enjoy in the local area.

Aerial photographs of the local area show just how little green space there currently is. These plans will mean there will be no safe green spaces left for communities to use.

Representation Summary:

I wish to register my objection to the potential sale of and building on the green site at Severn drive Pensnett (DUH222).

I am specifically objecting to this site as i live on Fernhurst drive but my concerns apply to any development of green sites in the area.

All the obvious reasons apply. Wildlife, a place to walk dogs, a place for youngsters to congregate without impacting residents. Etc Etc.

Reasons specific to our family are:

We regularly walk across the green talking about the trees. The insects, the bees etc. He is intrigued by all this and has a thirst for the knowledge that that small area gives him. We have recently had in the garden. Talking to him about this is fascinating for him. He questions everything to understand why a bee lands on a flower. It is necessary for us to preserve these areas for mental well being of all and the education of children.

He too lives in Pensnett, just off coopers bank road. When in a pushchair his mom would walk here 3-4 times a week. But now at age 4 the pushchair is gone and it is not safe for them to walk along coopers bank road to get here. Its narrow overgrown pavements on a road that 90% of traffic breaks the speed limit makes it impossible. This was an opportunity to see what nature had to offer but we sadly just accepted that that aspect for us was no longer available. We now find that a bit of green space that gives him some freedom is potentially going to be taken away too.

For our mental and physical health we need open spaces for us and our children and that are safe. The site at Severn Drive offers a small sized development site but it's value to us is phenomenal and far out weighs the benefits that a few houses may bring.

There are many brown sites available that could be used that won't impact our children's well being, that said our schools locally are oversubscribed. It is a battle to get a place at local schools. We need to get traffic off the roads, not increase it. With children getting school places a distance from home, not only will we have more cars in the area generally but all these cars will be taking their children to school as they are not close enough to walk. My grandson, again as an example, despite being autistic he did not get his first choice primary school but will be going to Dawley Brook in Kingswinford. He will NEVER be able to walk to school because of the distance. This no doubt is the case for many local residents and will only become more and more difficult as new developments spring up.

I appreciate my reasons are very specific to our family but many people are affected in similar ways. We need our open spaces. Small as they are. Please let ours stay.

DUH 217 Land At Wollaston Farm is part of the green belt between Dudley and South Staffordshire. This proposed develop would destroy the valuable well being asset for current and future generations. This strip of green belt has been invaluable for residents physical and mental health during the pandemic allowing residents access to the country side or leisure, pleasure and well being. The surrounding area is already heavily populated and polluted by traffic. the local road network can not cope with the existing volume of traffic. Access to rail links is impossible at peak times due to grid lock. The local schools, doctors surgeons etc are already over stretched and would be unable to cope.
