I am writing to you regarding the Peak House Farm development in Great Barr
I am aware that Sandwell Council did not include HIMOR's proposal to build on the farm land, off Wilderness Lane in the draft Black Country Plan. However I understand that it is still expected that HIMOR will appeal against this decision and try to get the land included in the final version of the Black Country Plan.
As a local resident I am highly concerned regarding this.
Not only has the land already been designated as not being suitable for housing and the hedgerows being identified as being vital for biodiversity as well as aiding local climate change; it also raises many other concerns.
The local roads are busy enough as it is. More housing means more residents and more cars on the road. It will be horrific.
Local schools are already over subscribed with children having to travel out of the area to schools further afield. Where will the children of the new proposed housing expected to go? Will our current local children be up against even more competition to get into a local school that they can walk to and be part of their local Community?
The area is currently providing a beautiful green area of peace and a safe haven for nature including birds, insects, foxes and not to mention deer that have recently been seen. It provides local residents an area of tranquility and has been even more important in doing so the last 18 months.
Please don't take this away from our local community and children.

To whom it may concern
I would like to add my support to Sandwell Council's decision not to include the land at Peak House Farm Lane off Wilderness Road as a possible site for housing development in the draft Black Country Plan.
If this decision is challenged, I ask that my opposition is noted. In the current situation, with clear indications of global warming, I feel that losing any green belt land would be totally inappropriate. This land has been designated as "unsuitable for housing" and the hedgerows, in particular, support biodiversity and an abundance of wildlife.
I would strongly oppose any attempt to appeal the Council's decision at any future date.

I support Sandwell Councils decision to exclude the land at Peak House Farm, Wilderness Woods and Aston University Recreation Ground from the call for sites in the Black Country Plan. These areas form a valuable transect of green belt land of environmental and conservation significance. To build on this land would have an adverse effect on the area through increased traffic and pollution in the area that is already heavily congested and polluted from the M6 motorway and A34 trunk roads. It would also have a detrimental effect on the local amenities and wildlife.

It is unacceptable that the council is proposing to bulldoze green spaces across the Black Country when there is so much derelict industrial land that can be built on. This plan should prioritize the use of brownfield sites for housing developments.
Removing acces to services is also unacceptable. Community Centres like at Charlemont provide a valuable asset to our communities. They must also be protected.
The number of houses proposed in all areas will also have negative effects on amenities, roads and schools.

I am writing to object to proposed use of the Fields behind Peak House Farm/Peak House Road/Wilderness Lane for development.
I moved to the area over 60 years ago because of the views from the back of my property across the Sandwell Valley and the Beacon Way.
I take frequent walks around the area and the ground is riddled with brooks and sodden after only a slight amount of rain.
My objections are many:
1. Loss of the green belt. We need the trees and hedges to help our carbon footprint.
2. Loss of habitat for wildlife.
3. Insufficient infrastructure to support anymore dwellings in the area.
4. Increased traffic, the A34 struggles with the amount of traffic now without increasing the burden.
5. Damage to historical sites.
6. Loss of views and privacy to all the residents of Peak House Road and Wilderness Lane.
7. Decreasing the available land to absorb rainwater.
I appeal to you to protect our Green Belt before it's too late, we will never be able to replace it no matter what considerations are imposed on the developers.

object 100% to the proposals to build houses on the Tanhouse Playing Fields in Hamstead and on the playing fields and electricity substation land opposite Painswick Close in Yew Tree/Tamebridge.
I opposition any building on local open spaces/green belt/green recreation areas; when there are an abundent amount of brownfield sites which could be used. The Black Country Plan for housing development should be totally focussed on 'accelerating the reclamation of brownfield sites', and be committed and focussed to protect open space & green belt.
These green areas, and ALL green areas are crucial spaces for thriving biodiversity and once they are built on, will disappear for ever. We have a dire situation with a savage assault on nature and wildlife and we should be protecting them; instead of destroying them. Our green areas are getting squeezed and being reduced all the time; which means precious urban wildlife will be confined in smaller and smaller spaces. Green spaces are cruicial for health/well being and metal health, and immensley important to local people/communities who live in dense urban areas. Easy access to local green spaces are also vital for local communities/people; as not everyone has the means to travel further afield, far to get to national parks/beauty spots.

I wish to register my sincere displeasure at your proposal at building 560 houses at the green space site of Brandhall golf course and Parsons Hill Park.
Michael Gove is putting forward a plan to rewild fields which seems to be at odds with these proposals. Losing this space will rob the people of the local area of the opportunity to use and enjoy this precious green space.
We are not short of housing stock in this area, having had a housing development established in Rowley Regis in recent years. This is evidenced as the area, Old Warley already has 75% less green space than the average in the area. The loss of this green space will affect many people across several council wards, having an immeasurable detrimental impact on our physical, mental health and well- being.
The former golf course has become a vital resource for the local community, even more so as a result of the pandemic. Many local famillies and individuals use the area as a space for jogging, walking gathering and enjoying the local wildlife. \
The area is busy with much traffic passing by on the nearby Wolverhampton Road. You have to wonder what the impact will be of building 560 new houses near a road which has seen many injuries and 7 deaths in the last 10 years.
Without the precious green space to balance out the pollution caused by the busy Wolverhampton Road and nearby motorway there will also be an impact on air quality. The obliteration of 4,000 trees in the green space will undoubtedly have a negative impact on the health and life chances of the local community. I have a young grandson who I enjoy walking with in our local area and I worry about the impact of losing this space will have on him.
There is also the unpalatable associated increased flood risk that will follow ridding the area of its natural flood defence.
It also goes without saying that there are no associated plans to increase the number of local facilities in the area such as doctors surgeries. It is already difficult enough to get an appointment and time with your local GP without further increasing the demand.
I do hope that mine and others comments are duly considered and noted and this more than a paper exercise.

I would like our support noted against the green belt land stated above from being proposed building application land. We suggest brown belt land used initially.
There is so much wild life in this area we feel using this would upset nature too.
So in short no building on Peak House Farm /Wilderness Lane site.

Protect Biodiversity of Wilderness Lane from Developers
The land off Wilderness Lane in Great Barr is under threat from developers.
This land, along with land near Tanhouse Avenue, and other land in Great Barr has been designated as NOT SUITABLE FOR HOUSING by Sandwell Council, and is also important for nature conservation. However, it is still under threat as the developers who own the land are calling it for it to be included as a site that could be built on. These petition signers support the Council’s decision not to include this site in the Draft Black Country Plan.
We the undersigned call on Sandwell Council to protect the biodiversity of our green space, such as the land off Wilderness Lane, Tanhouse Avenue, and Sandwell Valley, and exclude them from development zones. We also urge the Council and the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government to resist pressure to make green belt land available for development.

My only travel option to work (Birmingham city centre) is the 126 Bus, this service is terrible, I often wait up to 40 minutes for a bus with buses that appear 'due' often disappearing off the live timetable with no bus arriving, it's very difficut to rely on this bus service for work. I don't want to drive for environmental reasons but Sandwell is making it very difficult for people like me.
There is also no provisions for people who live in flats to collect and dispose of kitchen waste, this excists for homes but not my block of flats and I image not other ones either.
There are many good things, including access to allotments which I really appriciate. The canals are nice but can feel a little dodgy for women, it would be nice to see more public/artist activity on the canals.
Many thanks
Sofia

1. Although living in this area for nearly 70 years I had no knowledge about these proposed plans until last week . I was amazed to see that the end date for 'consultation' was 11.10.21. I have received no notification or information from any source until getting a newsletter 'Focus' from the Lib Dems last week! Nothing from Sandwell Council or any councillors. There has been no consultation of any kind to my knowledge. This discredits the whole plan.
2. In particular site ref: SA-OOO1-SAN (Tanhouse Ave; Newton Ward). The site is totally unsuitable for these reasons : a)the site has always been known as green belt. The site has a public right of way by usage- rough paths have been made since the last century by people alone or with friends or exercising dogs etc
b) It is adjacent to a busy railway line which has heavy freighttrains running throughout the night.
c) It is adjacent to both a RSPB sanctuary ( I stress this last word!) and Sandwell Country Park.
d) A view which many visitors admire looking over the fields up towards Hamstead Hill and even further would be lost forever.
e)This land has never been developed;it is a rare oasis in the area
f) The nearby roads, Tanhouse and Hamstead Road are now increasingly busy with much traffic ignoring all speed limits.
g)Possible flood risk eg an area of Tanhouse Avenue opposite numbers 23, 21 sometimes floods after a downpour up to and over the kirb onto the pavement.
h) The site is above or in close proximity to coal mining tunnels once linking Hamstead Colliery with the Jubilee Colliery near Forge Lane.
3.Becuse of the lack of prior knowledge about these plans I have had little time to consider the matter further. However, the above comments should be seriously considered and hopefully prevent a big mistake being made.
