Draft Black Country Plan

Representation ID: 10562

Received: 16/08/2021

Respondent: Mrs Wendy Weavin

Representation Summary:

The plan should take into account that due to the covid pandemic people working from home in the UK has more than doubled and is becoming the norm for most companies. It is estimated 70% of the workforce will be working remotely at least five days a month in the future. This should be considered when calculating the amount of land required for employment.

I do not believe the existing green belt should ever be compromised whatever the justification, once it is gone it is forever, what is needed is less people, not more houses.

Representation Summary:

Dear whomever it may concern,
I have read the black country plan document and as a resident of the black country I
am writing to say I object 100% to ANY building work on the black country green belt.
As you are aware the world is in a climate crisis now!
There must not be any building or any destruction for any reasons on our green belt
as this will destroy wildlife habitats, causing damage to biodiversity in our local areas,
and have a negative impact on the climate crisis we are in now.
I request that any plans now or in the future to build on green belt/green spaces are
abolished immediately so that future generations have a future of safety and worry
free of an inhabitable climate and a mass extinction of species.
I request that all involved educate themselves on the science of impact of the current
climate emergency we have now worldwide and what can be done to prevent us
hitting tipping points that will lead to global devastation of habitats and mass
extinctions of species that are undoable. I recommend watching Breaking
Boundaries: The Science of Our Planet documentary on Netflix which is highly
informative of the issues and what we must all do, working together to prevent any
elements hitting tipping points.
There are plenty of urban derelict areas and derelict buildings in the black country,
use those areas instead to build on. LEAVE OUR GREEN BELT ALONE! IT NEEDS
PROTECTING. IT NEEDS CONSERVATION. IT DOES NOT NEED BUILDING ON!
Furthermore, I propose that our black country plan incorporates developing an
infrastructure within the black country which is much more eco friendly than it is now,
an infrastructure in our society that is fit for the future.
I am happy to be contacted and involved in developing the black country in a green
future where we live with nature, protect it, save it and not working against it

Respondent: Mr Matthew Bate

Representation Summary:

We as a family who live at the address listed below OBJECT to this proposal on the 20th August 2021 for the following reasons :-

The use of Greenbelt – There are no exceptional circumstances for developing this area of Green Belt.

The proposal does not meet the main criteria of the National Planning Policy Framework for releasing land from the Green Belt.

There are brownfields sites and empty buildings that the council could and should use this land.

This will destroy the natural and irreplaceable habitat for an incredible amount of wildlife, some of which are may without further investigation be on the endangered species list.

Traffic – The road infrastructure will not cope with an additional cars within the proposed building of 115 residential units.

It needs to be noted that the claim in the SGA7 of a 1:1 ratio of cars in the development is completely unrealistic by todays standards. Most households have at least two cars.

Air and noise pollution – With the extra traffic this will no doubt increase the pollution and noise levels to a dangerous and harmful level.

Schools – It will cause further strain on the overcrowded schools which are already exceeding their capability.

Health Care – The local health care is already overburdened. Care homes are in the process of being closed and GP’s are already stretched to the maximum making it impossible to get a doctors appointment.

Overburdened Infrastructure – Care in the community, Police, Fire station, Shops, Water Supply, electrical supply, sewage systems etc.

As you can see from the above this proposal being considered raises real concern to me and my family and that is why I am writing this letter of objection and also request that Dudley council remove Worcester Lane, Stourbridge from your list of earmarked greenbelt sites, to be used for housing developments.

I also demand that policies are put in place to permanently protect the greenbelts for any future development plans.

Can you please ensure that my letter of objection is added to the Dudley Council Consultation Database in order to be notified regarding local plan consultations and other aspects of the council’s planning policy work.

Regards

Representation Summary:

We moved back to walsall [redacted personal information]. The green space behind our houses are what makes it feel less like a town, more like beautiful country village life. Building more houses here will take away our "on the doorstep" family walks and will create more pollution. Please don't build here. More houses, more residents, more crime, more traffic in an already busy area. This area feels a safe and beautiful place to bring up our kids, please don't take that away

The surplus land you are considering has a number of trees/plants and a water course running through, without the trees absorbing the excess moisture it will become subject to flooding, as it is the drains within the surrounding areas cannot cope with the additional water an global warming weather we have.

I have lived in Walsall all my life as have all my family and have seen how overpopulated it has become. To add even further building development to an already overpopulated village will be a travesty, it will impact the transport networks which are already causing major hold ups and delays. Our doctors/hospitals schools and colleges do not have any additional capacity. Please do not use our Green Belt for building on.

I feel the proposed site at Mob Lane / Coronation Road currently has a good balance and I think offering this site up goes against the aim on point e and g below. I don't see how we can maintain a continuous green structure by removing such a large area of the narrowest part of the greenbelt that forms part of the Cannock Chase SAC buffer zone.

The term Neighbourhood Growth Areas refers to for large-scale developments on greenfield sites and this should be clear. It should also be clear that these allocations are predominantly in
the existing green belt. I support the Wildlife Trust's comment to support a defensible green belt to help promote urban renaissance within the urban area and that provides easy access to the countryside for local residents.

Representation Summary:

I would like to express my strong objection to the building of houses on greenbelt land. Greenbelt land should be preserved for future generations. There is no reason top build on designated greenbelt land when there are brownfield sites available. Greenbelt Land should be protected at all costs. This is not just my view. Local councillors of all parties should have their views listened to and these decisions should not be decided by people who live outside of our area.

There is sufficient brown field space across the Black Country nit in use to utilise before taking up any of the valuable green belt land. Already the Black Country is a highly built up area, we need to retain green spaces as much as possible.

Representation Summary:

1) the overall ratio of properties proposed for Walsall greenbelt land seems highly disproportionate. The consultation documents states that 47,837 new homes are required areas the Black Country of which 7,720 are to be an greenbelt level. Of these 5,418 are proposed for Walsall greenbelt, a whopping 70% of the greenbelt total. I know that Wolverhampton has considerable tract of greenbelt land so why is such a high number proposed for Walsall. A more equitable distribution is surely fairer to spread the burden.

You will undoubtedly be aware that the Brown Jug former public house in Sandbeds Road, Short Heath, has been
derelict, vandalised and an eyesore for over 10 years. Despite complaints and petitions and Cllr Andrew's 'promise'
that (in line with stated council policy and govt guidance) that this will be dealt with (including compulsory purchase)
nothing is happening.
It would seem from relevant documents/reports, including the Black Country Plan, that this site isn't
mentioned/considered.
I wondered why?

Representation Summary:

There are many brown field sites that are much more suitable for development, we already have houses/flats being built on queslett road East/doe bank lane, I think most people are ok with this as it was an unused piece of land which used to be a petrol station.
This plan would absolutely devastate this community, us residents are willing and determined to oppose this all the way, we are extremely passionate about this and we have a large amount of people which is growing by the day , willing to fight this all the way, as once this land is built on it is gone forever.

spaces, especially when there are alternatives & often other places still empty {Tameway Tower, for
example). Also there are plenty of sites ~ for example the currently being constructed Lock side development
on the former Caparo site.
PLEASE reconsider. Walsall & surrounding areas will be ruined if you proceed

To allow the development of the Green Belt would be catastrophic to this wonderful area which is a pleasure to live in. I would formally strongly like to object to the development of any Green Belt spaces within Great Barr and the Barr Beacon area, these historic areas should be protected and not swamped by housing. I strongly believe that brown field sites should be redeveloped into housing and not green belt land. This should not be subject to budgetary restraints. Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, stated only yesterday, that green fields should not built upon.

Aldridge and Walsall have significant brownfield sites immediately adjacent to shopping, transport links, schools and health services, none of which apply to this site. They are left derelict and an eyesore, negatively impacting the mental health and well-being of the community.

In future the UK may find itself in a position where food supply is less easily obtained from distant countries. How can it be sensible to use good quality agricultural land which produces crops every year and contributes to our home grown food, thus limiting carbon emissions from imports?

Our MP campaigned partly on her commitment to preserving green belt land. This should be paramount in your decision on this proposal.

Representation Summary:

I think to use greenbelt land for any other purpose that it was meant for is a gross mistake knowing how planning works. I would suspect that if greenbelt land is used this time, in future some more excuses will be found to use more.
The greenbelt was setup after the 2nd World War to give a breathing space between populated areas. Since then more and more greenbelt has been eroded until there will not be any left for future generations to enjoy.
I think the needs of housing and industry can be met by using brownfield sites. I can only comment on the Walsall area, but I am sure the same applies to all areas.
In this day and age with global warming such an issue is very irresponsible to cover more land with bricks and mortar.

The green belt is a special resource especially in a built up area such as Walsall. The green areas have been much used and appreciated during the last 18 months. Once it’s built on it will be gone forever. How can this be compatible with fighting climate change.
Once the land has been built on it can’t be put back. The diversity of flora and fauna will be affected. This will be environmentally unfriendly.

It is not advisable to be building on green field sites in the Walsall area, as there is little green space as it is, there should be brown field sites.
Also lots of houses means a strain on local roads and also on local services like schools and GPs.
