Walsall Greenbelt - I am opposing an objection against building on our green belt for the following reasons
(1) Since the global pandemic the government and NHS Services have acknowledged the on-going rate of mental health & related sucidle Green spaces especially those of a natural environment like our "Green Belt" it is very important to us residents. This is one reason why I chose to live here. Green spaces like our has a positive impact on peoples mental and physical health by having the freedom to go for a walk in nature. This aids many health conditions. i.e mental Health, reduces the risks of stroke, Heart disease and high blood pressure, our Green Belt is more than Just a field or somewhere to build on, it is our lvelyhood our tranquility. nature at its best. Residents of the area + for use this space daily for all the above reasons and to get out of the house. Since the pandemic, We have had to adapt to a New life of working from home and continue to do so which affects your mental health to, so being able to go for a walk clears the mind, aids depression and anxiety and lifts peoples spirits - 'Walking the streets is not the same, with the houses being built and the nature destroyed people will not go out.
(2) There is wildlife on the greenbelt, horses, deers and bugs + insects this is their habbitat, My son loves to go over there on a bug hunt, to look at the horses and get muddy. This is good for their development and mental health to. Due to greenspaces decreasing over time this will have a negative impact on the next generation's development. Children thrive with health & wellbring when they are able to access green spaces.
(3) There has been a lot of talk in recent years about clean, air, climate change and pollution, is this not going to go against all those comments / strategies that have been mentioned? Building 800+ houses on our greenbelt, causing more pollution than there already is? The streets leading to the area are already full with parked cars for residents who have to park across the paths to allow through traffic to pass. You can't get passed them with a pushchair or to your front door as it is. We then have to deal with the school traffic, with cars that park anywhere more houses means more cars, more pollution and Emissions which will be detrimental to health in the long term.
(4) 800+ houses on that land, Where are they all going to go to school? Or What doctors are they going to go to? Its hard enough now to see a G.P Without adding more familles into G.P's lists. and as for Schools. I can't even get my [Redacted-GDPR] son into any Local school as they say we Live to far from either one. being 1 mile. Its an absolute Joke. but yet you want to propose to build 800+ houses. Where are they all going to go to school? and why should they all get school Spaces. When I have lived here the majority of my life and went to these schools, but yet my children cant even get a space at a normal time let alone with another 800+ families.
(5) There is already ASB in the area, caused by both people in the area and Shelfield School Children, we have children playing outside till gone 10pm If not later, running all over your garden, sweariing, banging on your windows, riding their bikes up and down your path this is the same for the school schildren leaving the school. too, smoking + swearing as they passby. the parents park across your drive, even though there is a dropped kerb So you can't get off your drive. If you ask them to move you get a mouthful of abuse.
the crime in the area has increased with people breaking into you houses, stealing your cars off the drive the increased pressure to keep your house + belongings secure by investing in CCTV and alarms living in fear that all you've worked for will be taken this will only increase if houses are built, as there is no youth clubs or places for the young ones to go, except drinking, smoking weed over the park. Shouting verbal abuse as you walk with your dog or child.
(6) yes I am aware that houses need to be built for the current demand but Why build it somewhere that is enjoyed by so many people.
the reason I live in the area, Is because of this I can get to Brownhills, Aldridge, Walsall via the greenbelt and enjoy many walks across there. It is not houses that need to be built, you need to address the extortionate amount of rent landlords are charging.
If houses are built on the greenbelt, I will be putting my house up for sale and moving to another borough that can offer something that I already have now, the greenbelt is the reason I Live here.
