Dear Sirs,

Policy DSA4 Corbett Meadow, off Vicarage Road, Amblecote, Stourbridge

We are writing to appeal against the plan to allow for the development of housing at Corbett Meadow off Vicarage Road In Amblecote.

We would support this ancient site being given the same protection as green belt to help to prevent future development threats to the site which is a haven for birds, small animals and insects and is part of Coalbourne Brook Valley.

We are both Stourbridge born and bred and have lived within Stourbridge all our lives, the last 37 years living in Amblecote so we feel we should have our voices heard.

Although the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust inherited the land, this was an historic legacy gifted to the people of Stourbridge by John Corbett for the creation of the Corbett Hospital. The Dudley Group have already profiteered by selling off some of the land for development despite the fact that they never had to pay for this land in the first place. This parcel of land is the only remaining area of the meadow and we feel the Dudley Group should morally let something remain permanent that John Corbett gifted to the people of Stourbridge to safeguard the well-being of the community.

The land should remain in long term use for its health and environmental benefits, as residents we know it is a much-needed green space in a heavily built-up area.

We live just a short walk away from the meadow, across the very busy Vicarage Road. We have first-hand experience of the traffic jams and parking problems caused by already overburdened roads and services. Creating a new access road into Vicarage Road would cause extreme safety concerns.

Once again, we are asking that the meadow remains as important green belt land as was intended by John Corbett. In fact, this should be left as it is in memory of John Corbett who generously gave so much for the people of Stourbridge.

Yours faithfully
