Representation Summary:

I wish to support the proposed designation of the Corbett Meadow as a Local Green Space in the Black Counry Plan. Policy DSA4 which is at page 434 of the document and as an Area of High Historic Landscape Value ref.Policy ENV5 on page 230.
The Meadow has provided and would continue to provide a green lung for the area, a wild life habitat in this time when land owners are deliberately creating wild flower areas for the insect population. I am sure John Corbett had health and mental well being in mind when leaving the historical legacy to the people of Stourbridge.
The housing proposal would squander the natural benefits of such an Outdoor Surgery for short term financial gain. When it could easily provide an outdoor community health environment aiding physical and mental well being.
The housing proposal would add pressure onto already over burdened local services and roads and safety concerns regarding access onto Vicarage Road.
There are currently many concerns of our young people for their future regarding the environment and in this regard what is better a meadow and trees or bricks and concrete?
There will always be an NHS need for ever more funds in light of increasing population and medical advances but you can produce medical hardware and processes ad infinitum but not open land, it is there only once and if built on it is gone. I believe it was originally intended that the NHS should be funded from National Insurance which the government has done recently for social services.
Mayor Andy Street has said to use brown field sites first and only use green land as a last resort.

I look forward to the Corbett Meadow being maintained as a Local Green Space
