am writing to object to Dudley Council’s proposed development on green belt land around Pedmore. I wish to lodge my strong opposition to this, as part of the consultation process

I refer to the plots of land on Trehernes Farm shown on the consultation plans as DOH 209 and DOH 207. I am horrified that a Conservative Council would contemplate developing on green belt farmland, when the government and local councilors are supposed to be concerned about preserving our green spaces, especially farmland.

Parts of the proposed sites opposite the small park in Pedmore are currently used for farming and grow wheat and potatoes, they also provide a welcome green space respite from the urban sprawl around us which is threatenings to take away all green spaces and the wellbeing of residents. During the Covid pandemic these green spaces have proved invaluable to many, not to mention the crops that grown in these fields and should end up feeding our population. The proposed developments would add significant extra traffic to what is already a busy road network especially along Worcester Lane and Hagley Road. The congestion during the rush hour at some of the islands and traffic lights going in and out of Stourbridge and Hagley would be made much worse.

There are many opportunities around Stourbridge to redevelop brown field sites into housing, especially within the town centre areas. These must be fully explored properly before taking the easy option and helping greedy developers of ruining our countryside and eating into valuable farmland which should be used for growing crops.

The planning process has not fully and properly considered the impact on the road network the loss of natural habitat, the impact on the local community or the loss of crop growing farmland. Urban sprawl is the easy option please keep our green belt green and re-develop our towns and derelict spaces into high class living accomodation to solve your housing needs.
