A34 Stafford Road to Walsall Road already is not fit for purpose with the traffic usage already in situa. The road is also a filter or cut through for excess traffic from the M6 in the event of an issue e.g accidents. This leads to grid lock, jams, congestion which is already quite often.
Most towns are looking at pollution levels and reducing speed clean air policy, it would seem we are considering REDUCING the air quality with the numbers of houses and cars planned for this development. Most households have a least one car, however then looking at partners and older children this can quadruple.
Most brownfield sites at one point had working factories units, buildings and already have the roads and infrastructure in situa.
Gas pipes and amenities, are old and often have blocked or leak along the Stafford Road. Newtown (just my house) has had gas repairs 6 month - yearly . We have been told year after year the pipes are lead and old, like the sewerage systems and cannot cope with the houses already here. Once a repair or cap is done it put pressures further up the road and it repeats itself time and time again. Which then adds to the traffic congestion issue when they close part of the road down for repairs. Cars backed up from one end of Cannock Orbital to Bloxwich Walsall etc. That is without the motorway issue traffic and all of the above issues already sited. It is already at breaking point and days of total gridlock without adding another 2000-3000 houses?

The traffic impacts would be massive on already congested roads which also serve as a diversion route. Our road,
Long Lane is an example of this.
We are a rat run.. cars and lorries.. some of which STILL come down here although they exceed the specified weight
limit…speed up and down this 30 mile an hour limit road. The Lane simply COULD NOT cope with an influx of even
more traffic. Where is the consideraon for the environment re increasing traffic polluon in a semi rural area?

I live in Long Lane, the traffic on this road is already busy as it is used as a diversion. Parking is a problem and will only get worse.

Such developments would swamp existing infrastructures and increase traffic to a point which would cause major issues in terms of volume and pollution.

I feel the plan should be scrapped. By going ahead with this housing allocation plan, DUH217, I feel the authority is showing a total disregard for the health and well being of the local population, the wildlife and environment, access to the site and an increase in volume of traffic would present huge problems and dangers to the local school children due to it's proximity to St. James's School.

The area is also too hard to access & already supports an incredible large amount of housing. Creating more junctions to service this development so close to a local school would lead to increases in accidents.

An increase in vehicles on local roads leading to an increase in actual drive times and bottlenecks. The extra traffic will result in increased noise and air pollution affecting the health of residents.

Kingswinford has already had a lot of housing development around Stallings Lane and Tansey Green Road. This has resulted in increased traffic and congestion within the area. This impacts on air quality. More housing within the area will only add to this problem.

There is a lack of public transport
The junction of the A461 Lichfield Road with the A452 Chester Road at Shire Oak has a Continual traffic jam right although being controlled by traffic lights.

Full text: I am commenting about the Worcester Lane sites DUH206, DUH207 and DUH209.
The plan is to build 155 new houses, which will involve about 150 new cars. As petrol and diesel cars will be phased out soon after the houses are completed, the houses will need electric charging points.
The plan covers two public footpaths. Will these remain open as rights of way?
Where will the residents work? If they want to drive out to the M5 motorway, or towards Birmingham, they will drive either along Worcester Lane (B4187) through Hagley, or along Redlake Road to join the Hagley Road A491. Both Hagley high street and Redlake Road have serious problems with congestion already in the mornings. Extra cars will just add to the problem. What will be done to alleviate the additional congestion that these new houses will cause?
For public transport, there is no bus service currently along Worcester Lane. Hagley station is 20 minutes walk away. Cycling to Hagley station would be an option, but cycling along Worcester Lane is dangerous. A cycle lane should be put in place along Worcester Lane to Hagley, to enable commuters to cycle to the station, and for children to cycle to the secondary schools in Hagley.

The proposed Yieldfields site is too large and will destroy the character of North Bloxwich and Great Wyrley, merging the 2. The impact on traffic and air pollution will be massive and unsustainable. the A34 is already clogged with traffic including HGV and wont cope with the increased traffic. Its important to have green land areas or people have to travel further.

Kingswinford rush hour traffic is a major problem for residents, this will make it much worse. The Swindon Road / Lodge Lane junction is already a bottleneck before 500 new houses - up to 1000 additional vehicles.

New housing developments over the last few years have had a detrimental impact on traffic congestion and therefore pollution. Construction at the locations and on the scale proposed by the plan will create enormous problems for residents and the people of Dudley generally as the infrastructure will not cope.

Future building needs to really take this into consideration, while I agree there is a need for new housing and the supporting infrastructure it is so important that it does not as stated cause a detrimental impact on the living conditions for future OR CURRENT occupiers of new residential properties, in terms of: vibration; dust and fumes; smell; noise;
The roads cannot cope with so many more households which will all have a minimum of 1 car.

Regarding public transport, the lay-out of new housing development needs to be sympathetic to efficient penetration by bus services. In particular, to avoid wherever possible the creation of large dead-end housing developments which, while the mitigate against rat-running by motorists, will involve buses having to double-back on themselves, resulting in inefficient, time-wasting - and often unviable - diversions to journeys.

In my humble opinion the idea of up to 1200 new homes on the Queslett / Aldridge road site is frankly ludicrous. Based on the average family model this would mean at least an additional 4000 people residing in a what would be a large rabbit warren of an estate. Crime would increase and traffic would become horrific at already busy pinch points with at least an additional 1200 cars; probably far more as most families have 2 cars.

Regarding DUH217,the amount of house building in the past few decades in the Stourbridge area looks out of control with it becoming a mass of tarmac and concrete.Any loss of green belt is tragic but in this area people cannot see a doctor or avoid a traffic queue.Another worry with the increase of population will be the danger of the Western Orbital Road being resurrected

The road network through and around Kingswinford is already immensely overburdened and struggles to cope with the existing volume of traffic. To add to the problem with a potential additional 800 plus homes for residents within the Dudley Borough will only exacerbate the problems currently experienced. It is already accepted that Wordsley High Street is one of the most polluted roads within the Black Country and with absolutely no scope to alleviate the pressure, this pollution will only spread further along the main route between Kingswinford and Stourbridge, including onto surrounding roads.
To travel anywhere from Kingswinford involves high volume traffic and regular queuing traffic.
If the thought process of Dudley Council is that these two sites will potentially attract buyers of property from further afield that could access the sites by using the A449 (again another densely used road), this indicates that the properties are not being targeted at people requiring property within the Dudley Borough.

Whilst adequate provision should be made for Public Transport and Cycling, relying these modes to address pollution and road congestion issues would be foolish and unrealistic. I speak from personal experience. When I was young, I decided that I would rely on Public Transport but got fed up with waiting around, often in the cold and/or the rain for Buses that either were late or did not turn up at all or were so full that I could not get on. I put up with it for about 10 years and learnt to drive when I was 30.

Whilst all modes of Transport should be addressed, too much emphasis is being put on Public Transport and Cycling - which are not sensible options for many people - especially the latter. When young, I decided to use Public Transport, did so for about 10 years, got fed up with waiting in the cold and/or rain for Buses that were late or did not turn up and discovered the hard way that that mode was not a sustainable option. I learnt to drive at the age of 30 and have never regretted it. I avoid Bus travel where possible.

It will increase traffic especially where we live - it is only a small road but it is used as a rat run with traffic speeding down our road very fast! We cannot get off our drive at times with the number of cars, vans and lorries speeding down our road. These developments will only impact on an already busy small road.
