Whilst adequate provision should be made for Public Transport and Cycling, relying these modes to address pollution and road congestion issues would be foolish and unrealistic. I speak from personal experience. When I was young, I decided that I would rely on Public Transport but got fed up with waiting around, often in the cold and/or the rain for Buses that either were late or did not turn up at all or were so full that I could not get on. I put up with it for about 10 years and learnt to drive when I was 30.
