Black Country Site Assessment report and Dudley Appendix A Page79 The Triangle SA-0025-DUD

This region has an abundance of Brownfield Sites as well as large areas of town centre currently that should be used and redeveloped before we look at using our green space. To remove these green areas which during the pandemic allowed people access to green space on their doorstep will have been a lifeline to peoples mental health and wellbeing.
The loss of greenspace areas reduces access to the countryside and once it has gone then there is no way of getting it back. We already live in an area of reduced air quality and we should be looking at increasing the trees and green spaces areas to help fight the pollution not reducing it.
With regard to the roads we already have very busy periods so by building on these areas this will increase the number of cars on the road, we do not have direct access to a train station and nor do we want additional roads being built to simply destroy more green space.
Any additional increase in housing will also have a knock on effect with regard to the local ammentiies - schools, doctors surgeries and emergency services already at capacity would be put under further strain.
The destruction of more areas of the local enviroment should not even be under consideration, the loss of ancient trees and woodland, loss of wildlife and the effect this will have on climate change at a time when we should all be doing more to save species of insects, animals and fauna and help save the planet for further generations. These areas of land are important locally and are cherished and it should be recognised that the West Midlands Mayor, MP's, local councillors and local constituents are joined together to fight this cause. The council would be much better off ensuring Dudley Town centre was remodelled for housing areas with tree lined streets.
