Reasons: - Highways are already congested & will be unable to cope with increased traffic
- Infrastructure can't deal with an increase in population
- services already oversubscribed
- Essential to preserve the green belt for environmental purposes
- Protect nature & wildlife habitats
- unnecessary to destroy green spaces there are ample brownfield sites available
