Draft Black Country Plan
Representation ID: 18329
Received: 11/10/2021
Respondent: Mrs Estelle Jones
Local authority : Walsall
Locations related to the objection of housing development:
WAH 230/246/254 (Chester Road Green Belt)
WAH 255 (Bournevale Green belt)
WAH 234/250 (Aldridge Road Greenbelt)
My objections to housing development on the above areas:
1) The environment is now in code red and any green belt land needs to be preserved to combat climate change and support the survival of the planet.
2) The greenbelt creates natural corridors for wildlife essential for the survival of insects and birds (Both in decline).
3) The land will help to reduce the danger of flooding in the future as climate change increases the risk of flooding due to global warming.
4) Building on green belt contravenes the gov proposal to tackle climate change.
5) The area WAH 230/246/254 in particular contains large areas of mature trees and hedgerows which provide habitat for birds and insects. Mature trees [underlined] are essential to combate global warming. Any plans to plant young trees as part of the development will Not [underlined twice] compensate for the loss of such well established trees.
