Draft Black Country Plan

Representation Summary:

I am emailing to raise an objection to the proposed plans to build houses on the former Brandhall Golf Course site in Sandwell.

I believe this piece of land is crucial to the environmental wellbeing of the surrounding area, and the mental well-being of its existing residents. It is a haven for wildlife and families alike. There is already very little green space in our area.

The roads surrounding the golf course site are already busy, in particular the Wolverhampton Road where there is already accident black spots at the Queensway/Parsons Hill junction and also Brandhall Road. There have been life changing & even fatal accidents at these locations. Adding more traffic to the area will surely see an increase in the amount of accidents not to mention congestion and air pollution.

There have already been lots of new houses built in this area in recent years on the former
Sandwell College site. These have been built on a flood plain and much work was done on the golf
course to help with drainage. Building more houses further up on the golf course will surely have a
knock on effect for the houses built here with the potential of flooding.

In a time when we are more aware than ever of the effects our actions are having on our planet, we should be doing our upmost to protect our precious opens spaces and natural habitats not taking them away.

I would be grateful if my views and those of Friends of Brandhall Green Space could be taken into account when considering future plans.
