REF WAH242 (policy WSA7)
As a resident of [redacted], Walsall, for 50 years, I am totally opposed to the development of 442 homes on the green belt at Calderfields. In fact I am totally opposed to any building on any green belt in the United Kingdom. Whilst I understand the need for affordable houses to be built, I believe there are many brownfield and old industrial sites that should be used for this purpose. Building on precious green land should never be considered.
Why hasn’t the council done something about the eyesore on the Lichfield Road/Butts Road corner where the old Methodist Church used to stand? It was demolished some years ago and though the land isn’t large enough to accommodate 442 houses, several could be built there. There must be thousands of such sites throughout the country.
Should the council go ahead with this plan to build on green belt, it will never be able to take it back. I consider it to be a criminal act.
