Draft Black Country Plan

Representation ID: 14686

Respondent: Diana Holmes

Representation Summary:

I would like to add my voice to the many people who are objecting to what I understand to be proposals to build luxury homes on the ex-Wolverhampton Environment Centre, in the centre of the Smestow Valley Nature Reserve. Like so many other people I walk regularly along the canal and the old Railway and through the Reserve – this has been especially valuable during the pandemic, but the whole area is always very well used and provides – as you know – incalculable benefits for both physical and mental health. Wolverhampton has many brownfield sites available and the development of green field sites should surely be avoided whenever possible. What was the Environment Centre should remain, as at present, a real asset to the environment, as to the many citizens who value and make very good use of it.
