Draft Black Country Plan

Representation ID: 12100

Received: 11/10/2021

Respondent: Mr Charles Shepherd

Representation Summary:

Wilderness Lane/Peak House Road fields in Great Barr need to be preserved and not developed. They provide many environmental benefits: Filtering pollution, preventing flooding, providing wildlife habitat. Plus they are of historical importance and further research of their historical importance would be beneficial. The nearby motorway and A-Road network creates a lot of pollution. These fields plus their ancient hedgerows and trees store a lot of carbon and filter a lot of pollutants. Birdlife using those fields includes herons and buzzards. Aquatic birds live on the water of the ancient moat. The fields absorb considerable water to prevent flooding.
