We would support the suggestion that natural environment SUDS should be prioritised. These are often quite a cost effective way of helping to alleviate flooding.
We would like to see trees and woods used as part of natural environment SUDS wherever this is feasible. In urban areas in particular, trees can be very effective in alleviating surface water flooding by slowing down the rate at which water reaches the ground and enters the drainage system.
