Statistics to date show that both Comparison Retail and Office development in the Strategic Centres is behind target. In the case of Comparison Retail this appears to be a general trend - probably due in part to the growth of Internet shopping. Office development is way behind that forecast - possibly more people are working online from home - and perhaps computers themselves have eliminated some need for office jobs and thus office space. We also have to take into account the rise of Birmingham and of the future effect of Solihull's UK Central development.
