Black Country Core Strategy Issue and Option Report

Representation ID: 175

Received: 05/09/2017

Respondent: Mr Mark Andrews

Representation Summary:

Dudley town centre desperately needs large format, warehouse-style units to attract multiple retailers. There are too many outdated, small units which were suitable in the 1950s and 60s, but do not meet the needs of today. Many of these could be demolished to make way for large format stores, with associated free parking, that will bring people into town. Suitable sites could include the former car dealer in King Street, the old Cook's department store which has rear parking. The town needs major retail investment if it is not to die.
