Black Country Core Strategy Issue and Option Report

Representation ID: 1078

Received: 23/10/2017

Respondent: Mr john Hemingway

Representation Summary:

As a fairly regular user of this superb country area and an ardent supporter of the Lapal Canal restoration, I am somewhat concerned to hear of the potential damage that that could occur to this beautiful area by some plans that have recently come to light. As you may be aware there is a 3 pronged partnership amongst the Halesowen Abbey Trust, Leasowes Park and the Dudley No. 2 (Lapal) Canal. This partnership, which has widespread support, is working towards making all three parts, which also includes the walled garden, link together within a strategy which aims to enhance the whole area and provide a much needed visitor attraction.
Just imagine, visitors arriving by canal boat being taken round the superb parkland, visiting the walled garden and the hopefully more stable ruins of the Halesowen Abbey. This would undoubtedly provide job opportunities and hopefully attract more investment in the local infrastructure which, very unfortunately, has been damaged in the past by some thoughtless actions.
