Black Country Core Strategy Issue and Option Report

4. Reviewing the Strategy to Meet New Challenges and Opportunities

Representation ID: 2421

Received: 21/08/2017

Respondent: Richard Deeble

Representation Summary:

The area does not need development on green land there are enough brown sites and these must be treated as priority areas. Development in Halesowen would make the area lose its beauty i.e. the eye line up to the Clent Hills and towards the south. This is the thin edge of the wedge and would very soon lead to an expansion of the conurbation right up to Bromsgrove and the westerly outskirts of Birmingham.

There are severe traffic problems in the area already. The A456 is a disaster during rush hour and the adjacent M5 is full to capacity. There are insufficient alternative routes.

It is likely that there would be a drop in property values if development were permitted. Only the developers would benefit from any development.

Hi

It is with dismay that this matter has been raised again. I have objections for the following reasons not necessarily in order of importance.

* The area does not need development on green land there are enough brown sites in the area and these must be treated as priority areas. Development here would make the area loose its beauty i.e. the eye line up to the Clent Hills and towards the south. This is the thin edge of the wedge and would very soon lead to an expansion of the conurbation right up to Bromsgrove and the westerly outskirts of Birmingham.
* There are enough severe traffic problems in the area already. The A456 is a disaster during rush hour and the adjacent M5 is full to capacity. There are insufficient alternative routes.
* It is likely that there would be a drop in property values if development were permitted.
* Who is going to benefit from any development (probably the developers).

There are many other reasons for not developing the area but the aforementioned should be sufficient to provide objection to the proposals.

I do hope that the proposals are not implemented.
