Black Country Core Strategy Issue and Option Report

Question 5 - Do you agree with the proposed approach to the Black Country Green Belt Review? Yes/No; If not, what additional work do you think is necessary?

Representation ID: 1065

Received: 23/10/2017

Respondent: Coombswood Green Wedge Pressure Group

Representation Summary:

My apologies that the submission is a few days late, but nevertheless I feel that this representation should be included in the core strategy plan extending for the next 19 years.

We are all aware that the Wedge represents the last remaining area of true countryside between Birmingham and Halesowen.

It is without doubt the most significant and precious area of green belt land in the Halesowen area. A case for this has been made over many years by myself and many others who appreciate it's value as a unique local amenity.

I have been making entries on the British for Ornithology website
"Bird Track" for a number of years concerning its importance for all local wildlife. Access to the website is available to any interested parties whatever their reasons may be.

About a half of the area is owned, as you are aware, by property developers. The five abandoned fields will be particularly at risk of housing development during the period of the strategy plan.
