Representation Summary:

I support the conditions being placed on the potential use of this area, but I am greatly concerned that no mention is made of additional secondary school provision, as housing built in this area would also have a detrimental effect on access to secondary school places for children living in Aldridge and Stonnall, as well as Brownhills.

Proposal goes against the greenbelt
There is a lack of public transport
The junction of the A461 Lichfield Road with the A452 Chester Road at Shire Oak has a Continual traffic jam right although being controlled by traffic lights.
The ground should be maintained as agricultural ground and Planning permission for development on this site has previously been turned down

All comments refer to Chester Road/ Lichfield Road junction - directly effected by this proposal.
-already too busy, with queues >100m during busy times.
-Environmental impact of more vehicles, idling due to extra housing.
-Analysis of air quality should be done now to see where it sits on air quality scale and to predict the impact of extra traffic.
-Access from side roads is already very difficult closer to the junction.
-very limited public transport exists. Or very expensive if crossing county line = more cars >£4 return to Lichfield
-impact on wildlife including deer often seen in the fields

This proposal will destroy wildlife habitats, and quality Agricultural land. It will add at least 1000 additional vehicles onto the existingroad network and the Shire Oak junction, which Walsall Council claimed to be at capacity some 5 years ago. It has the potential to increase flash flooding in the Sandhills.

Destruction of green belt/farm land when there are many areas of brownfield sites in the borough yet to be regenerated.
Negative impact on existing peak hour traffic congestion, particularly at Shire Oak junction which has already been recently remodelled.
Negative impact on existing property valuations.
Noise/disturbance to existing local residents during extensive build time.
Flawed consultation - only heard via word of mouth two weeks prior to expiry of consultation and document only received through letterbox one week prior to expiry.
Previous application for industrial units for this site was declined - what has changed?

Uses of the canal, and the homes owners, should have been giving a proper opportunity to provide feedback via post on the plans for Home farm as not all homeowners have been made aware or have the internet. The field appears to flood in certain areas and I believe it also runs across a fault line, which would cause issues. Building a large estate on the side of a country canal walk will change the area, and the use of the canal will drop as people will no longer see this as a safe place to exercise outdoors.

This proposal will be detrimental to the natural wildlife which has flourished over centuries. The traffic in the local area is already ridiculous so proposing to add another 1000 homes into such a small area will undoubtedly cause greater nuisance to the current drivers and the proposed new residents. One of the 5 purposes of green belt is 'To assist in safeguarding the countryside from encroachment' This plan not only encroaches but destroys the country side marked out in this plan with untold amounts of air, sound, light and water pollution.

Brownhills is surrounded by land unsuitable for farming whereas the land targeted is good arable farm farmland producing cereal crops in its entirety year on year. It is also rich in minerals which when exhausted can be turned back to farmland. Leaving the EU has left us at their mercy and buying food from them in the future is going to be expensive.
There are much better opportunities all round and certainly Brownhills which would benefit from the regeneration possibilities increased population would bring.

I relocated my business from the Birmingham suburbs to assist with its operation, predominantly because of the traffic congestion in and around the city, our customers were finding it difficult to make timed repair appointments and if we had to attend customers vehicles, on road breakdowns or on site servicing, we found traffic issues cost us valuable working time.

Not forgetting the journey times for our employees trying to get to and from work.

Our relocation to Brownhills means we are easier to access for our visiting customers, we can 'get out to' ouir custmers easier due to our depots location and staff can get to work quicker than before.

The A452/A461 intersection is an extremely busy junction, the junction at Anchor Bridge (Lindon Rd/High Street A452 Brownhills) backs up at peak times now, my staff are specialist technician, one travels from the Leicestershire border, one from the Worcestershire border, both find the route via A5/A461 better than trying to access Birmingham.

The impact this proposed development will have on already busy junctions doesnt bear thinking about and will be detrimently to our business.

I object to all of it, mostly the housing development sites to be built on green belt land. I object to the building on of the sites - Homes Farm (Sandhill), Yieldfields Farm (Bloxwich), Queslett Road East/ Aldridge Road (Streetly), Sutton Road/ Longwood Lane (Pheasey Park Farm), Yorks Bridge (Pelsall), Coronation Road/ Mob Lane (Aldridge North/ Walsall Wood), Calderfields/ Aldridge Road (St Matthews), Bentley Lane (Short Heath), Johnsons Farm, Meadow Farm/ Watling Street (Brownhills)
The reason I object - I think we should be preserving what little there is of green belt land, not destroying by building houses on it. There's no denying we are destroying the world and and acts like this are not helping. I strongly oppose it on ecological grounds, there's no counting how many animals (including bugs and insects) homes will get destroyed in the process and how bad the knock on effect will be for wildlife.
Also I am completely opposed to the cutting down of healthy trees for the same reasons above.
People who do these kind of things have no respect for the life they are destroying why is it never a consideration. I cannot explain enough how against this I am

I live in Clayhanger, this proposed is going to bring even more traffic through our village which is going to make it much worse than the congestion already is.

You cannot get out either end of the village because of the amount of traffic and traffic build up on the main roads now. A11 traffic cuts through the village because of the hold ups in Brownhills High Street now.
This will only increase this.
to try and cross the roads in Clay hanger now waiting for traffic is awful.
I run a charity in Clay hanger to help local people, we lose the chance of alot of people coming to an event because of congestion now. Women cannot cross the roads with pushchairs, how much more dangerous you want it to be.

I absolutely object to the green belt land 'Home Farm Sandhills' being developed.
Not only is there a plethora of wildlife which live within this area but its is also a site which radiates natural beauty.
My home [Redacted-GDPR] and all views from our house would be destroyed. This would absolutely effect the value of our home too.
Having looked at the files associated with this plan, I abhore any support to this ridiculous idea to use this site for redevelopment.
The proposed developers have the nerve to talk about the land being in a 'bowl' and that we can see over it - this is completely unreasonable and untrue!
You are welcome to come and see the view [Redacted-GDPR] and see for yourselves what would be ruined by development!!!!

This will have a further congestion problem on Pelsall road Brownhills. I live at the end house at the bottom of the service road on the Pelsall rd.
Already we have the build up of traffic from clayhanger which cuts through the service road. As the traffic cannot get out onto the Pelsall Road, also from the other way coming from Pelsall cutting through clayhanger as the brownhills high street is already gridlocked several times during the day - we also have the problem from the factories at Coppice side estate - half the time I am unable to get on & off my drive. How much more do you think we can cope with.
I am strongly against this.

Comments re housing site Home Farm, Sandhills (WAH235 / SA-0022-WAL)

I object to the proposal of green belt to be used for any kind of development including housing and to any alteration of green belt boundaries; and specifically the inclusion of Home Farm, Sandhills (WAH235 / SA-0022-WAL) within the plan. Now, more than ever, people are spending a considerable more amount of time at home and so it is more important than ever that we look after the environment around us. Furthermore the growing impact of climate change it is so important that we protect all of our green belt. Building on this proposed site will leave no green space between Brownhills and Sandhills

I reside in Sandhills and will be impacted on greatly by the destruction of this green belt area at Home Farm Sandhills.

Habitat
The field subject to the proposal is surrounded by mature hedgerows which provide habitat to the considerable variety of wildlife. We have seen large numbers of newts, toads, frogs, hedgehogs, deer, foxes, owls, bats, birds of prey and garden birds around our home and in the fields of Home Farm. After all, this is green belt land.
I am aware of the historic records held by EcoRecord which highlights the protected and notable species recorded at Home Farm, Sandhills and the site is of great ecological value – The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and Black Country determined that the area is of medium-high ecological value!

Noise
The noise levels will be unbearable due to the close proximity and we would get no peace in our home. This noise would be from the building work and then subsequent increased traffic.
Our road is already very busy and is a popular have route. Our house already shakes from the current traffic, let alone following building work and increase in traffic.

Pollution
The dust created from digging up the site would blow straight into our home and impose a number of issues from health problems to blocked drains due to the dust created. We already have a high volume of dust from the quarry behind us, adding to this would be unbearable. During the summer it is expected to have windows/doors open in our home. The dust would stop us from being able to do this.

I live in [Redacted-GDPR] Sandhills, Walsall. I would like to comment on the proposal of a build of 800 homes on home farm land [Ref: WSA1]. Currently Lichfield Road from Cartersfield Lane to the junction of Chester Road/Lichfield Road is already at saturation point with the amount of traffic at various times during the hours of 7:30am to 18:00pm hours.
A future increase in local population would have an adverse result on the situation.
Generally I disagree with any use of green belt for housing. All brown field sites should be utilised first.

1. I do not find it useful to be told that an area is equivalent to x number of football pitches.
2. The areas I am most familiar with are the Sandhills, Queslett Road East and Calderfields sites
3. I think they are all suitable for extra housing, albeit much is farmland, and a balance has to be maintained between growing food and housing people
4. The difficulty here is that information is limited to the number of houses it is intended to build - what about shops, schools, welfare? - what sort of houses? 2 bed starter homes? 3 bed family homes? bungalows? flats to rent?. How can we comment when we do not know what the structures will look like. The areas do not need anymore 5 bed monstrosities as have been erected in the Aldridge Area of late - nor if it comes to that, any more retirement flats.

I wish to object to the above area being designated as an area for future housing development. The roads in the area will be inadequate to cope with extra traffic, already many bottlenecks at busy times of day.
Doctors and health services are already overstretched. This greenbelt is vital to pressure the borders and identity of the areas surrounding it, otherwise these individual areas will simply merge into one. Other reasons for retraining the green belt are obvious for the well being and mental health of the residents that use it or live close to it.

To say I am astonished to see a proposal to convert open farmland into a housing estate is an understatement!
How on earth is High St (A452) Brownhills and Sandhills (A461) going to cope with the additional traffic - you can't widen the A452 with houses on both sides!
In my family we have 2 wheelchair users, I am part of the extended care team for both, I have to travel almost daily from Brownhills to both Clay Hanger and Walsall Wood to assist with my niece and Aunties care needs, the traffic congestion in and around Anchor Bridge is extreme at school and peak work times, it isn't always possible for me to avoid traveling at peak times, especially with my work patterns (I work in Aldridge - so again travel via A452/A461 or B4152 (Lindon Road), this new housing estate will make my difficult journies even worse, when I need to be in place for particular times.
I have other friends and relatives with breathing problems now, what is going to be the effect on their conditions with the additional pollution and diminishing air quality as housing estate of this size would cause.
We struggle now for doctors/dentist appointments in our area, how is this additional burden going to be managed without affecting us local residents??

I am objecting to the plans for proposed large housing site (Strategic Allocation) WAH237 to the rear of the properties on Lazy Hill Road, Cotswold Close, Clifton Avenue, Malvern Drive, Ledbury Close and Linkside Way.
This site has good agricultural land which is used for for production which is needed now and for the future especially for supporting the UK's economy.
There are plenty of other brownfield sites that could be used which are not in residential area's. This site is minerals safeguarded area, so the plans for using it as a sand and gravel quarry prior to building should not even be contemplated especially so close to residential properties.
This land is not suitable for the proposed plans, there are far more appropriate brownfield sites which would not compromise food production for the UK and local residents health due to increased pollution from heavy plant machinery and mining.
GREEN BELT land should be protected - BROWNFIELD sites should be used first!

The major concern with this proposal as with all previous proposals is traffic disruption. The A461 is extremely busy. I often have to wait several minutes to get out of my drive especially turning right to Lichfield. Getting back in turning right is often difficult through queuing traffic and holds up vehicles behind.
The junction at Barracks Lane is dangerous already the site of many accidents.
The disruption during the building stage would not be pleasant,
We have already had major disruption from site traffic for the houses which have been extended during the pandemic. Heavy vehicles have bloched sight lines and caused noise, mess and distress.

My house directly overlooks Home Farm, we brought our property some 20 years ago, due to its location and situation, for which I have no doubt we paid a premium for, the proposed development will significantly affect our quality of life, as well as devaluing our *property.
* As everyone is fully aware, homeowners are finding the value of their property is the major factor in the funding of care in their old age, this proposal has this double financial impact on homeowners surrounding the development site.

In addition I comment:

! There are numerous species of wildlife that inhabit the fields of Home Farm, ranging from foxes to deer, Canada Geese in August (for around 3 weeks), there are birds of prey, woodpeckers and bats along with starlings, crows, pigeons, magpies, blackbirds, thrushes and robins to name just a few, where will they go??

Traffic in and around the A452/A461 junction is already chaotic at times, but my concern is how will the roads cope with another 800 households, generally with 2 cars nowadays, so potentially 1600 cars entering and exiting our already congested roads?

A461 Lichfield Road Sandhills has seen it's fair share of serious accidents over the years, along with a student of nearby Shire Oak School being killed at Anchor Bridge Unc Chester Road and Linden road), which I am sure are well documented, this is the exact road infrastructure that will have to carry the additional 1500+ cars daily!

I am against this plan for the following reasons:

1/ Use of green belt land, thus affecting wildlife at a time when we are being encouraged to create habitats for animals, bees etc.

2/ 1200 houses will create massive traffic problems in an already busy/congested area. There will be at least 1200 cars and probably many more using the local roads - Lichfield Road and Chester Rd.

3/ Disruption whilst building.

4/ No infrastructure to support these extra residents - doctor surgeries, leisure facilities etc.

Cars coming off the carage way at fast speed and people coming off there drives so if houses was built opposite this would be very dangerous each house hold have around 2 cars each building more houses is crazy idea and i'm very much against it. We have cars, lorries, vans, school children crossing the road. To make more cars come off onto this road would be putting lives at risk. Two accidents happened in the same day the other week it's already a dangerous road. Totally against building houses there.
