Government targets do not reflect local assessments; government has not provided methodology or justification for their growth targets nor sufficiently explained how these respond to housing need//provide affordable or sustainable housing/address the housing need. MPs, WMCA and local councils have identified there is sufficient brownfield land available to be brought back into use to meet the region's housing need. Brownfield sites should be repurposed: reuse of this land supports regeneration and tackles dereliction. Equally it preserves Green Belt. A disproportionate loss of Green Belt is being proposed for Walsall which will have a significant detrimental impact on the borough.
